Mario Stella Richter
Chair
Mario Stella Richter is the Chair of the Italian Interbank Deposit Protection Fund (FITD) and its Voluntary Intervention Scheme since 28 February 2023, as he was elected by the FITD General Assembly.
Since March 2024, upon designation by the Minister of Economy, he is a member of the Expert Committee that deals with the revision of the Consolidated Law on Finance (TUF).
Since 2018 he is member of the Supervisory Board of OCF – Organismo di Vigilanza e tenuta dell’albo unico dei Consulenti Finanziari.
Since 7 April 2000 he is full professor of Commercial Law. He currently teaches in the Department of Law of the University of Roma Tre and previously he taught at the University of “Tor Vergata”, at the University of Macerata, at Bocconi in Milan, at Freie Universität Bozen and at Luiss G. Carli in Rome.
He is a lawyer dealing with corporate and financial markets law, as well as an expert in corporate governance.
He is the author of over three hundred publications and, among other things, co-director of the Rivista delle società (founded by Tullio Ascarelli in 1956) and of the series of Essays on Commercial Law (also founded by Ascarelli in 1936).
Alfredo Pallini
Director General
Alfredo Pallini is the Director General of the Italian Interbank Deposit Protection Fund (FITD) since January 2021.
He is the Vice Chair of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) since February 2023 and within IADI he serves as Chair of the Europe Regional Committee since 2021.
He is also Member of the Board of Directors of the European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI).
He worked 13 years in the Supervisory Department of the Bank of Italy before transferring to Banca Popolare di Spoleto as General Manager (2005), then to the Vatican Financial Information Unit as Deputy Director General (2011) and then to the Istituto Centrale delle Banche Popolari Italiane/Nexi as Managing Director (2012-2019).
He is a Professor of Economics of Markets and Financial Intermediaries at Luiss G. Carli in Rome and Adjunct Professor at Luiss Business School.
He graduated in Economics and Banking Sciences from the University of Siena and obtained, from the same University, a master's degree in banking disciplines with courses at the University of Bangor in England.
He is a Chartered Accountant and Auditor and Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
